DeFi.com.au is operated by Dominet BV. Everything on this site is general information about crypto assets in Australia. It is not financial, tax or legal advice, and it does not consider your objectives, financial situation or needs.
What we are not
Dominet BV does not hold an Australian financial services licence (AFSL) and is not an authorised representative of anyone who does. We are not a crypto exchange, broker, wallet provider or tax agent. We don't sell crypto, hold anyone's money or tokens, take applications or recommend any crypto asset, platform, wallet or product.
How we're funded
As at 30 October 2026, the site has no affiliate links, referral codes, sign-up bonuses or paid placements, and Dominet BV receives no payments from exchanges, wallet makers, stablecoin issuers or tax software companies. If that ever changes, this page and every affected page will say so before any paid link goes live.
Crypto is high risk
Moneysmart, ASIC's consumer website, says most crypto assets are high-risk investments and that you should be prepared to lose everything you put in. Crypto isn't legal tender in Australia, and many crypto providers aren't licensed yet, so you may not be protected if a platform fails or is hacked. Read Moneysmart's page on crypto assets before you decide anything.
How we name exchanges and products
We don't rank exchanges or say which one to use. Where a page names an exchange, it is a dated fact sheet built from official registers and the exchange's own published pages, with every company claim attributed to the company. We name an exchange only after its registration has been checked on AUSTRAC's register. AUSTRAC registration is an anti-money laundering registration. It isn't a licence to give financial advice, a safety rating or an endorsement.
We explain derivatives such as contracts for difference (CFDs) and perpetual futures so you know what they are, but we never link to them. We don't publish interest, staking or yield rates.
Tax
Tax rules depend on your circumstances. Our tax pages explain what the ATO publishes, with the date we read it. For your own return, use the ATO's crypto pages or speak to a registered tax agent.
Scams
If you think you've been scammed, stop sending money, contact your bank and the platform, and report it. Our crypto scams guide lists the official places to report. We never recommend crypto recovery services.
Corrections
Every page shows when it was published, updated and last reviewed. Laws and figures change, and the official page always wins over ours. If a fact on this site is out of date, we correct it at the next review and change the updated date. Read how we research and source our facts or about this site.
